Our dive sites in Amed Bali are referring to a long stretch of coast running from the village of Amed about 14 km eastwards incorporating several villages like, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah & Gili Selang.

Amed, the village itself covers amazing views of Mount Agung & is located on the north-east coast of Bali. The Amed area reflects tranquility and the scenery with the surrounding mountains is just breathtaking & lovely!

Gili Selang

Depth : 5-40m

The small island of Gili Selang lies a 30 min boat ride south of Amed. Dives in this area are difficult because of very strong currents. It´s important to be there during the right time due to heavy tidal movements. Gili Selang is only suitable for experienced divers. However this is the best place in Amed area to spot large pelagic fishes like big barracuda & tuna schools, reef sharks, mantas & occasionally dolphins & even whale sharks are passing by sometimes.

Deep Blue

Depth : 5-30m

Deep Blue is a challenging drift dive with moderate currents along a beautiful topography with healthy coral reefs. You drop into a coral garden until the current picks you up for a fascinating ride. There are all sorts of big fish next to reef fishes, giant trevally, turtles, sharks and even mantas and eagle rays can be seen there from time to time.

Jemeluk

Depth : 5-40m+

Jemeluk Bay has two very easy accessible diving sites in Amed. There is an amazing drop off wall 60 meters dive next to a under water sculpture park. It´s perfect for underwater macro photography with the rare ghost pipefish and the mimic octopus! This dive site is a very good place for night diving in Bali. Jemeluk Bay is also very suitable for beginners, with no or very light current. To get to the dive sites it´s just a small step from the Amed beach into the ocean.

Amed Wall

Depth : 15-40m

Another easily accessibly dive site. Part of the beauty of this dive site is the short boat ride in a traditional Jukung boat to reach it. The Wall is home to a huge variety of marine life. Keep your eyes peeled for the ever-elusive pygmy seahorse or the occasional black tip reef sharks. Simply enjoy observing angelfish, puffer fish, trevally and occasional Mantas or eagle rays passing by.

Pyramids

Depth : 5-25m

The dive site Pyramids got its name from the partially artificially created reefs in the shapes of pyramids. The bizarre structures attracting all kinds of big fish as well as ghost pipefish, pygmy seahorses, frogfishes & nudibranchs. Located next to the artificial reef is a natural reef with plenty of soft and hard corrals and with a biodiversity sea life to explore. This site is great for a drift from a boat or during slag tide also accessible from the shore.

Bunutan

Depth: 5-30m

The reef corner of Bunutan is one of the prettiest dive sites in Amed. It´s a perfect drift dive to fly with medium strong currents in crystal clear waters. Starting from a sandy slope to a corner with excellent fish life a gigantic eel garden appears followed by a gentle slope with huge sponges & beautiful gorgonians in all colors. Giant tunas, barracudas, mantas & black or white tip reef sharks can be spotted frequently as well as pygmy seahorses & frog fishes.

DROP OFF Tulamben

Depth: 08-40m+

This Drop Off is the most amazing & exciting drop off in our Amed / Tulamben area. The sandy slope drops off quite rapidly making up for an exceptional wall dive. Hidden in the rocks and coral formations there are octopus and scorpions fishes & occasional huge pelagic predators like barracudas & sharks are popping up from the blue. The shallow reef of the Tulamben drop off makes a fantastic & colorful return from your journey.

CORAL GARDEN

Depth: 5-15m

The Coral Garden at Tulamben is another dive site that is great for underwater photography. An artificial reef has also been created here which comprises of a mix of various Balinese statues, which are attracting a lot of life to the reef. The statues are great motives with plenty photo opportunity & they give shelter to various see life creatures. Scorpion fishes, ribbon eels, colonies of anemones owned by clown fishes along with frogfishes & ghost pipefishes can be seen here. This shallow dive site suites all diver levels is also excellent for snorkeling adventures with none to moderate current.

USA-T LIBERTY Wreck

Depth: 5-30m

The shipwreck USA-T Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It´s a must see dive site when you visit Bali. It´s suitable a for all diver levels from a Discover Scuba Diver, PADI Open Water to Advanced levels.

The USA-T Liberty was a world war 2 United States Army Transport cargo ship torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in January 1942 in the Lombok straits. It was towed to the beach in Tulamben for salvaging where it was left as the war moved on. In 1964, Mount Agung’s eruption & a serious earthquake let the ship slipping away from the reef where it was dry-docked. The USA-T Liberty Wreck is lying on her side at a depth ranging from 5 to 30 meters.

It’s THE most popular dives site in Bali so it can get crowded there in the high season. With No Fear Diving we´re starting our dives away from crowds & the public entrance area from a very nice private resort just in front of the wreck. We also normally dive the USA-T Liberty first thing in the morning before the day tripping crowds arrive from Sanur and Kuta.

Snappers, Groupers, Barracuda, and occasional visits from Black tip reef sharks are some of the bigger fishes at the USA-T Liberty ship wreck. There is also a rich macro biodiversity @ the wreck with Ghost Pipefish, Nudibranchs, Scorpion Leaf fish and plenty of other little Critters. With great coral colors, usually good visibility and sunlight the Liberty makes an excellent dive spot for under water photographers.
